Our packaging

Because it plays such a huge part in what we do, packaging is a key area where we work hard to make a difference.

We’re committed to using renewable, recyclable and refillable packaging for our products, while eliminating as much unnecessary packaging as possible. We work with key packaging partners Forward Plastics NZ, striving to ensure less waste ends up in landfill. To demonstrate our commitment, we’ve signed the ‘New Plastics Economy Global Commitment' by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. GETTING THE MIX RIGHT

Across the ecostore range, our plastic bottles now contain a mix of Sugar Plastic – a renewable, recyclable plastic that captures CO₂ as it grows – and locally sourced recycled plastic. Using plastic made from sugar instead of petrochemicals lets us capture CO₂ from the atmosphere rather than releasing it, while incorporating recycled content helps keep this valuable material in the loop and reduces the need to create new plastic. This mix creates durable bottles, uses less energy and resources, and cuts down on the amount of plastic in our environment.

*Please note our bulk formats 4.5kg, 5kg, 5L and 20L are made from standard HDPE. We’re working on this.

What about our other packaging?

FSC CARDBOARD

Our cardboard packaging has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.

SCOOPS

Our laundry powder measuring scoops are all made from Sugar Plastic, 100% renewable and recyclable plastic made from sugarcane.

DISSOLVABLE WRAPPERS

Our no-mess dishwasher tablets are individually wrapped in a PVA biodegradable wrapper that dissolves in your machine.

TRIGGERS & PUMPS

We’re working on a plan to recycle our own triggers and pumps, so please watch this space. Caps are usually kerbside recyclable – check with your local council.

Refilling your ecostore packs

We know that the challenges of plastic need more than one solution. That’s why, along with using Sugar Plastic, recycled plastic and bulk options, we’ve worked hard to make refilling a more convenient option, at our Refill Stations around New Zealand.
