Ethanol is a clear liquid that can be produced naturally through the fermentation of plant sugars by yeasts, or via petrochemical processes. A simple alcohol, ethanol is used in many cosmetics and household products as a solvent and preservative. It can also be used as a solubilizing agent, helping mix oils and other ingredients which typically are not capable of mixing into water.
