What is the packaging made from and is it recyclable?
The glass bottle Is 100% recyclable. The cap is made from plastic to ensure the product is child safe. Until NZ's recycling facilities can accept small plastics, for now, please remove the cap to recycle the bottle at kerbside. The cardboard carton has both PEFC and FSC chains of custody certification and is recyclable through your kerbside collection.
Why did you choose glass?
We chose glass as it’s the most recyclable material at this size. NZ’s recycling facilities struggle to process any material less than 50mm in size ie. plastics or aluminium. During the sorting process the glass is crushed into small pieces. These fall through the 50mm holes along with the other small items. The glass is then sorted from this stream and recycled whilst the rest is sent to landfill. Note: removing the labels will ensure even further that more glass is recycled as any glass adhering to the labels after crushing may also end up in landfill.
How many refills can I get from a bottle of concentrate?
One bottle of Cleaner Refill Concentrate is enough to make up one 500ml spray bottle. Just make it up to 500ml by filling with 450ml of tap water before you pour in the concentrate.
Can I use my existing spray bottle?
Yes, you can use any clean, 500ml size spray bottle. Although we do recommend our own bottles because they are the right size and if you use the concentrate equivalent of the previous product, it will have the right label and instructions.
What happens if I under-fill the water (less than 450ml)?
We have tested the cleaners at the correct dilution to ensure they’re safer for you and your surfaces. If not diluted correctly, then it may damage certain surfaces. We recommend spot testing at the correct dilution on a hidden surface if you’re unsure. Each 50ml concentrate bottle is the equivalent of one ecostore 500ml spray cleaner. For best results, please follow the directions on the pack.
What surfaces can I use these cleaners on?
Bathroom & Shower: Suitable for most bathroom surfaces. If in doubt, spot test on a discreet area first. Not suitable for lacquered surfaces, slate, marble, porous tiles, coloured grout and unsealed surfaces. To disinfect, spray the surface and leave on for 10 mins before wiping off. Wipe down surfaces thoroughly with water after use.

Is the formulation different?
It’s the same formulation as our 500ml spray cleaners, simply 10x concentrated.
How is it 90% less plastic?
Because each ecostore spray head lasts for 24 refills, when you reuse the same spray bottle, you can save up to 1.46kg of plastic (that's 90% less!).
Is the formulation safe?
While it’s the same plant & mineral based formulation as our 500ml spray cleaners, it is 10x concentrated and considered dangerous for children, which is why the bottles have child-safe caps. We recommend keeping the concentrate itself out of reach of children.
Should I rinse my bottle between refills?
If you’re changing the product inside, we recommend adding a little water, shaking gently and spraying a couple of times into the sink to clear any product residue.
Do your concentrates contain palm oil?
They do contain a palm-derived ingredient as a surfactant. Please see our palm oil policy for why we use it, and our commitment to sustainable palm oil.
Are your cleaner concentrates vegan?
Yes, all ingredients in our cleaner concentrates are made from plants and minerals.
How are you saving me money?
While ultimately the prices are set by retailers, on average you’ll find these concentrates cost 20% less than your average 500ml ecostore spray cleaner.
Are the formulations as effective?
Yes, they’ve been tested by independent laboratories for performance and efficacy.
How should I store it?
A cool, dark place is best. If the concentrates are exposed to heat/light for long periods of time, the product can change colour. Individual cardboard boxes are designed to prevent this from happening.
What if my spray trigger head breaks?
Should your spray trigger head stop working, we’ll happily provide a replacement for free. Please contact info@ecostore.co.nz and we’ll get that sorted for you.
Help, I can’t get my bottle open!
For child-safety we have child resistant closure caps across all our Refill Concentrate bottles. Please push down and twist to open.
Do you do samples?
