Ingredient - Citronellol

Citronellol is an aromatic chemical, usually appearing as a clear liquid with a fresh rosy odour and bitter taste. It is naturally present in the essential oils of many plants, particularly rose, geranium and lemongrass. Citronellol is used as a component of many fragrances and food flavourings for its floral-citrus notes. It is one of the main components of citronella oil, which is used as a natural insect repellent.

Citronellol is naturally present as a component of many of the essential oils we use as fragrances for our products. Although this molecule is found in nature, it can still have a negative effect on some people who may be sensitive to its oxidized compounds, which can be irritating to the skin.
