Ingredient - Brassica Oleracea Acephala (Kale) Leaf Extract

Kale leaf extract is a botanical ingredient, usually appearing as a green powder, derived from the leaves of kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) and used for its conditioning properties.

Kale belongs to the species Brassica oleracea, which includes cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and collard greens; however, unlike cabbages, kale central leaves do not form into a head (‘acephala’ comes from the ancient greek word for ‘headless’). Some kale varieties have brilliantly coloured central leaves that come in shades of violet, lavender, blue or pink; and are grown for ornamental use. Kale is mainly cultivated around the world as a food crop - the edible leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin K, as well as fibre and other important minerals, and can be easily added to salads or stews.

Kale leaf extract can be used in hair care products to enhance body and shine. It contains proteins that nourish hair fibres, helping to promote maximum volume. It is also rich in antioxidants, which help protect hair against free radical damage.
