Wash your dishes the eco friendly way

For those of us that care about the wellbeing of the planet, daily chores can be a bit of a minefield. Do I go for compostable or recyclable bin liners? Which ingredients in my home cleaning products are effective, but also safe to use in my home? Is it wise to even say, let alone spray, “Phthalates”? So many questions. Luckily, we have plenty of answers.

Here are our top 5 dishwashing hacks to help you boost your eco creds at home, every single day.

HACK 1: Look for more thought bubbles

A lot of thinking goes into what’s in, and out of, our Dish Liquid. The power of biodegradable enzymes is harnessed to get dishes sparkling clean, but there are no SLES, DEA, synthetic dyes or artificial perfumes in our pH balanced formulation. That means that while we can’t make doing the dishes more fun (sorry), we’ve made it kinder to your skin, your home and your world.

HACK 2: Use only what you need

One of the biggest sustainable switch-ups we can make when it comes to home cleaning, and really life in general, is to consciously consume less. Applying this rule when it comes to washing your dishes means choosing a product that’s concentrated for more cleaning power in every squirt. We recommend using just 8ml of our Dish Liquid for a sinkful of sparkling dishes.

HACK 3: Dishes away, don’t delay

While you might not feel like doing the dishes straight after your meal, the planet will thank you for it. The logic is straightforward. When food hasn’t welded itself on to your pots and plates, it can be lifted off more easily, with less dishwashing liquid. That means less detergent going down the drain and less carbon expended by unnecessary manufacturing and delivery. Not to mention the energy you’ll save on elbow grease.

HACK 4: Let the water do the work

An eco-friendly way to lift stubborn grime is to soak dishes in hot water before you scrub them. Often, dried-on food will melt away after a few minutes in a “sink bath”, eliminating the need to use extra dishwashing liquid.

HACK 5: Compost binning is winning

Scraping your dishes into a sustainable food waste disposal system before you wash them is a great way to wash up more efficiently. While it’s tempting to just flush residual sauces and small food scraps down the sink, we recommend opting for a 30-second scrape instead. Why? Less debris means less product required to remove it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Oh and last but not least, don’t forget to recycle your empty bottle by removing the lid, rinsing the container and placing it in your kerbside recycling system.
