Good Soap fundraising case study: Thorndon Primary School

2016 was a special year for Thorndon Primary's senior school - it was the 40th anniversary of the year eight leavers' event and a big celebration was in order. So when teachers set about organising a fully catered dinner for the students at Parliament House, they chose our Good Soap for a Good Cause to fundraise.

Having used Good Soap to fund their 2015 Stage Challenge, they say it was a logical choice for a larger project. It turned out to be a great choice: $2200 was raised in just three weeks, and the soaps sold so quickly that more had to be ordered just two days into the fundraising drive.

“People really enjoyed the fact that it was not chocolate - they were happy to pay $2.50 per soap for a fundraiser, in fact it was easy to get $10 from people - many bought 4 soaps at a time,” says the school's year seven and eight team leader Mae Pullar, who organised the fundraising.

The Good Soap fundraising was also really easy to run, she says, with online ordering and soaps nicely boxed in carry cases. The kids also enjoyed using the seller's flyer.

“It helped them with their selling,” says Mae. “They said the soaps were easy to sell to people and many sold them at their parent's work. It was not a hard sell for people.”
