Deceth-6

Deceth-6 is a surfactant made from decyl alcohol, which can be derived from coconut or palm oil. The ‘6’ in the name refers to the number of ethylene oxide units in the molecule.

We use this ingredient in our Dishwasher Tablets as an emulsifying surfactant, which helps to reduce surface tension between water and oil and improve cleaning performance. This is a synthetic ingredient, and while we haven't yet found any natural surfactants to replace it, we're always on the lookout for better alternatives.

Other names: C22H46O7, PEG-6 Decyl Ether, Polyethylene Glycol 300 Decyl Ether

Chemical class: Alkoxylated Alcohols
