Butylphenyl Methylpropional
Butylphenyl Methylpropional
Butylphenyl methylpropional is a synthetic fragrance ingredient used in many home and personal care products for its potent sweet floral scent.
Also known as Lilial, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) reviewed the safety of this ingredient in cosmetic products in 2019, and concluded that it "can be considered safe when used as fragrance ingredient in different cosmetic leave-on and rinse-off type products" but also noted concerns of aggregate exposure from multiple products. We only use this ingredient at very low concentrations (<1&perc;) and always list it on our packaging for people with allergy concerns, however we consider this an area for safer chemistry innovation.
Other names: Lilial, lily aldehyde, lysmeral, 2-(4-tert-Butylbenzyl)Propionaldehyde
Chemical class: Aldehydes
