Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride

Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride is an organic compound with charged properties, derived from guar gum. Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is a domesticated legume crop, with most of of the world's production in India. Cultivated plants grow to around 1 meter tall, with hairy stems and leaves. The leaves, seed pods and seeds are all known to be edible, and are often cooked in curries. Harvested seeds or 'guar beans' are dehusked, roasted, hydrated and ground to produce guar gum.

Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride has charged properties that make it especially useful in hair care formulations. It is cationic (positively charged) and works by neutralizing the negative charges on hair strands that cause static and tangling. This ingredient can also be used in personal care products to thicken formulations and provide skin-conditioning benefits.
